The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has notified a new rule to provide relief to eligible private vehicle owners residing near toll plazas. Under this rule, from 1 November 2026, eligible non-commercial vehicle owners living within 20 kilometers of a toll plaza can obtain an annual discounted local pass.

The pass will require an annual fee of either ₹1,500 or ₹3,000, depending on the toll plaza's location. This could benefit those who need to pass through the same toll plaza daily for work, study, or other local needs. The government's aim is to make travel cheaper and more convenient for local residents.
