29 OCTOBER JALANDHAR: The dispute over setting up a firecracker market in Jalandhar before Diwali between Raowali Gram Panchayat and market members has finally been resolved.

After discussions between both parties, an agreement was reached. Now the path is clear to set up the firecracker market in the village Raowali on Bhogpur Road near Pathankot Chowk. However, the official announcement of the new draw date for the temporary license issuance is still pending.

Solution emerging from talks between the sarpanch and market members

According to information, a meeting was held between the sarpanch Jasbir Singh Rana of Raowali Gram Panchayat and members of the firecracker market. The meeting extensively discussed the dispute that had arisen over setting up the market. After the discussion, both parties settled the matter by mutual agreement.

During the meeting, the gram panchayat assured full support for the firecracker market. Likewise, the market members reassured the panchayat that proper security arrangements would be made in the market to avoid any unpleasant incident.

Advocate Jitendra Singh Duppar also played a role in resolving this dispute. The market officials Vikas Bhandari, Dhiraj Kumar, Ravi Mahajan, and Sanjeev Baahri along with other members expressed agreement with the panchayat.

The stay on the firecracker market was also lifted

After mutual agreement, the stay imposed on the firecracker market was lifted. This has cleared the way for the market to be set up.

Now the firecracker market will be established in the village Raowali on Bhogpur Road near Pathankot Chowk. This decision has relieved the traders who were waiting for the market to be set up to sell firecrackers during the festival.

However, it is necessary for the relevant administrative permission and the process of obtaining the temporary license to be completed for the market operation.

The draw for the license had to be postponed due to the dispute

Due to the dispute over the firecracker market, the scheduled draw for issuing the temporary license was also affected. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) and Additional District Magistrate Amaninder Kaur had informed that the draw date for obtaining the temporary license for the firecracker market was set for 29 October 2026.

But for administrative reasons, this date was postponed until the next order. According to officials, the parties will be notified once an order is issued regarding the new draw date and further procedure.

Now that the dispute between both parties has been resolved, there is hope that the administration will soon announce a new draw date for the license. However, an official order regarding the new date is awaited.

Special attention will be given to security arrangements

Considering the possibility of a fire or any other unpleasant event in the firecracker market, security arrangements will be important. The market members have assured the panchayat that the market will be managed with the utmost proper arrangements.
