Jirakpur: A fierce fire once again broke out in the furniture market located in Balatana, Jirakpur, causing a commotion. The fire quickly took a ferocious form and engulfed about 22 furniture sheds. Furniture and other goods worth lakhs of rupees stored in the sheds turned to ashes. The incident has inflicted heavy economic losses on the merchants.

After the fire started, chaos erupted in the market. The sight of the high flames spread panic among nearby shopkeepers and locals. Because the fire spread rapidly, merchants did not even have a chance to save their goods.

Upon receiving the notification of the incident, the fire department teams arrived at the site and launched a firefighting campaign. After considerable effort, the fire was brought under control.

Repeated fires, when will the administration finally wake up?

Notably, arson incidents have previously occurred in Balatana's furniture market. The recurring nature of such events has raised serious questions about the fire safety arrangements in the market.

Years of hard work and accumulated capital of the merchants are being devoured by a single fire in a short time. Now questions arise as to why, despite repeated fires, permanent safety measures are not being implemented?

At present, the cause of the fire has not been determined. An official assessment of the damage is also pending. Merchants have demanded that the administration establish a robust fire safety system in the market.
