During the event, BJP leaders leveled sharp political accusations against the Congress over the 1984 incidents, the dark period of terrorism in Punjab, and the killings of innocent people. The BJP leaders also reiterated their resolve to secure justice for the victims’ families and to strengthen Hindu‑Sikh brotherhood.
The program was attended by several senior leaders, including Punjab BJP state president Keval Singh Dhillon, former Union minister Ravishankar Prasad, national general secretary Satish Poonia, national spokesperson RP Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Sahni, among others. BJP district chief Ashok Sreen Hikki from Jalandhar, former MLA and Punjab BJP SC front chief Sheetal Angural, Punjab BJP secretary Amarjit Singh Amri, Jalandhar BJP co‑in‑charge Harjeet Singh Sandhu and former district chief Sushil Sharma also participated.
Ashok Sreen Hikki’s serious allegations against the Congress During the program, Ashok Sreen Hikki said that the 1984 Sikh genocide, the black era of terrorism in Punjab, and the killings of Hindu passengers after they were forced off buses are among the most painful chapters in the nation’s history. He alleged that the Congress’s politics of power has damaged Punjab’s social fabric and Hindu‑Sikh brotherhood.
Hikki said that the massacre of Sikhs across Delhi and other parts of the country is a shameful episode in democratic history. According to him, because of the alleged political protection afforded to Congress leaders who faced serious accusations and riots at the time, thousands of families were devastated. He added that the victims’ families are still struggling for justice.
Sheetal Angural said – many generations have borne the pain of violence Former MLA Sheetal Angural said that the Congress, in its pursuit of power, has torn apart Hindu‑Sikh brotherhood and left thousands of families destitute. She said that whether it was the massacre of innocent Sikhs in 1984 or the killings of innocent Hindus and Sikhs during Punjab’s terrorism, ordinary families have always borne the heavy cost.
Referring to the period of terrorism in Punjab, Angural described fabricated encounter allegations, killings after passengers were forced off buses, abductions and forced ransom demands as black chapters in Punjab’s history. She questioned why, despite being in power for decades, the Congress has been unable to deliver timely justice to the victims’ families.
BJP leaders demanded justice and punishment for the perpetrators BJP leaders said that a long legal battle has been fought to obtain justice for the families of the 1984 Sikh genocide victims. They claimed that under the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the re‑examination of old cases and actions through a Special Investigation Team (SIT) have accelerated, resulting in several perpetrators being sentenced.
