Rain Alert: Over 15 States Issue Rain and Storm Warnings

Rain Alert: The weather pattern across the country has changed once again.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), on Tuesday 29 September there is a possibility of rain, storms and lightning in the northern, eastern, northeastern, western and southern parts of the country. Due to the activity of the southwest monsoon, many states may see a spell of rain with strong winds.

IMD has issued a heavy rain warning for Uttarakhand, South Interior Karnataka and some parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. In addition, many states are expected to experience thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds.

Rain Alert: What will the weather be like in Delhi-NCR and Punjab?

According to IMD, on Tuesday there may be scattered rain in Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh and some parts of Punjab. Areas such as Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad in the Delhi-NCR may also see a change in weather.

According to the weather department, from Wednesday to 3 October the weather in these regions is likely to remain mainly dry. However, local variations in weather are possible.

Rainfall in Uttar Pradesh will be less

Uttar Pradesh has seen rain and flooding in several areas over the past few days. According to the weather department, from Wednesday the monsoonal activity in the state is expected to gradually decrease.

No specific warning has been issued for heavy rain in eastern and western Uttar Pradesh on 29 September. However, light rain and thunderstorms may occur in some places.

Rain with strong winds in Maharashtra

A Rain Alert is also issued for central Maharashtra. Pune, Nashik, Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Ahilya Nagar, Solapur, Satara, Sangli, Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar may experience rain with strong winds in places.

In some parts of Marathwada, strong winds of 30 to 40 km per hour are likely. Districts such as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Dharashiv, Nanded, Latur, Parbhani and Hingoli need to monitor the weather.

Rain expected in Konkan and Goa

Due to monsoon activity, many parts of Konkan and Goa may see rain and thunderstorms. According to the weather department, these regions may also experience heavy rain locally.

Northeast India is also likely to remain active. Assam and Meghalaya may see heavy rain with storms and strong winds. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are also expected to have thunderstorms and rain.

Rain Alert in South India

Several parts of Karnataka in South India are expected to receive rain. Especially in South Interior Karnataka, heavy rain may occur in some locations. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms and strong winds.

Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are expected to have heavy rain with storms and lightning. Kerala and Mahé are also expected to continue monsoon activity.
